Flipped Learning on Geometry
This lesson uses Educreations to relay the information on lines and angles. Students can watch this lesson at home for homework so they come to school prepared with the content knowledge on this topic. The application piece can be done back at school with the teacher's assistance. Flipped learning can be done with a teacher created video or you can insert one of the many YouTube videos or Khan academy videos to foster understanding of a specific topic. A Word document was accompanied with this lesson to show what the students learned at home.
Simulations and Models with Fractions
This lesson used a video found on Study Jams, a Scholastic website. This gave students a foundation on the topic. Students then used a simulation game (http://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations/category/new) to help students practice with the topic of fractions. Students completed a worksheet to reinforce the information. Finally, students practiced modeling by using a computer-based drawing software (most schools have some form of this).
